Materials

Silicon carbide is a compound of silicon and carbon which can be obtained from coke and quartz sand at a temperature of about 2500° Celsius.
Our experts can translate specific technical requests into real and suitable customer’s solutions by taking advantage of the outstanding features of this material:
  • Very good hardness
  • Chemical and thermal resistance
  • Good resistance to fluctuations in temperatures
  • High thermal conductivity
  • Low thermal expansion
  • Good wear resistance
  • Good anti-friction properties
Components made of silicon carbide find applications in several industrial sectors:
  • Pumps shafts; plungers for high-pressure pumps
  • Sliding bearings used in industrial pumps as well as in stirrers and mixers for the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry
  • Mechanical seal rings particularly suitable for heavy-duty applications as handling of abrasive fluids
  • Separators wheels used in the production of powders and granules for chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry
